Custom Design Process

The Inspiration
Time to get started! The easiest way to design jewelry is to find out more about the things you like. Gather any visuals (pictures work great) that inspire you and examples of the type of custom jewelry piece you are trying to create. If you need a little help deciding what you would like to create, our skilled jewelry team can explain gemstones, how they are set, and elements of design. Using a simple process of elimination, they will help you organize your thoughts and ideas so that you can form solid opinions about the styling and design that best suits you.
We can design from scratch or use metal and stones from pieces you already own. Collect any existing pieces you want to use as part of your design. These jewelry pieces usually include inherited items, or old jewelry you haven't worn in a while. We can often use gemstones from existing jewelry pieces and metal, depending on the type, can be melted down to add to your customized jewelry creation.

The Consultation
Appointments are not required. Stop by the store, give us a call, or send us a text and chat with one of our experienced sales associates about your ideas and inspiration (don’t forget any pieces you would like to include in your design)! Our consultants can always help spark inspiration if you aren’t sure what you want to create. They will help select the perfect center stone, metal type and color during this consultation, we will establish a timeline of creating your C.A.D. or wax model, necessary materials, and an estimated price for your piece. In order to get the process started you will need to put down a deposit of $250.00 - $350.00 that will be credited toward the total of your final design.

The Design & Approval
During the design process, our custom team will source materials and create a digital 3D C.A.D. design (a computer rendering of your custom piece) for your approval. Once a design is established and approved, we can move to casting. Our custom department will always let you know if an element of your design poses issues with stability and durability and make recommendations for changes. Designs that we deem not structurally sound or don’t advise will not be warranted.
A piece of jewelry can be a delicate and sentimental item. We want you to be happy with what is created and confident in your final design. With that being said, no piece of jewelry is indestructible and with time any jewelry piece will show wear. But don’t worry, when needed we offer a care plan that can be added to your purchase to help with some of those expenses down the road. Once you approve the design, we will require an additional payment to equal half the price of your item.

The Production
After your design is approved and a deposit is made, a 3D model is printed by our jewelers. (Don’t worry, we can give you one last look before everything is cast.) The jeweler will then take that 3D printing and cast your piece in the metal of your choice. Next, the jeweler will set any stones, polish and finish metal, and ensure everything is ready for the final step of the process!

The Finished Product
Once your custom jewelry piece is finished and inspected by one of our team members, we will contact you and let you know it is ready for pick-up! Any remaining balance will be due at pick-up. Now your custom piece is finished and we know you’ll love it! Time to celebrate and show it off!
